Situated on the shores of Loch Alsh, just minutes from the Skye Bridge, The Field House is a contemporary self-catering holiday home near the Isle of Skye. Nestled in the quiet crofting community of Avernish in the Scottish Highlands, it was designed not just as a comfortable place to return to after a day exploring, but as somewhere you'll equally enjoy just hanging out.
The Field House is an ideal base for exploring the Isle of Skye, Torridon, Glen Shiel and the Five Sisters of Kintail. Whether you're here for hiking, sea kayaking, paddleboarding, mountain biking, wild swimming or simply driving some of Scotland's most spectacular roads, adventure starts just beyond the front door.
Spend the day discovering Skye's dramatic coastline, the Cuillin mountains, Fairy Pools, Elgol or Neist Point before returning to the quiet of Loch Alsh for the evening.
Some days, though, you'll decide not to go anywhere at all. Watch the changing light across Loch Alsh, make another cup of tea, wander back to the sofa with a book and let the day unfold slowly. Staying in can feel every bit as rewarding as heading out.

The Field House is a modern timber eco-home, designed to be comfortable in every season. Air-source heating and a fresh-air heat recovery system keep the house warm through Highland winters and naturally cool during summer. When the weather calls for it, light the wood-burning stove and settle in for the evening.
The wrap-around open plan living space has endless views across the Loch and allows for easy socialising when cooking, eating or relaxing in front of the fire. With two double bedrooms, each with its own en-suite shower room, The Field House is ideal for couples, two couples travelling together, friends exploring the Highlands or anyone looking for a peaceful base close to the Isle of Skye.

We ride bikes, paddleboard, swim in the sea and disappear into the hills whenever we can. Just as happily, we'll spend an afternoon reading by the fire or watching clouds drift across the loch. After years of returning to this corner of the Highlands, we built The Field House to reflect the way we love to spend time here. We hope it becomes your place to slow down, explore the Isle of Skye and the surrounding Highlands too.
